SWF Krantechnik adds ATEX hoist

Germany-based SWF Krantechnik has launched the ChainsterEX electric chain hoist, extending the company’s range of explosion-proof hoists which already includes the electric wire rope hoist NOVAex, the electric chain hoist SKex, the hand chain block CraftsterEX and the crane components CraneKitEX.

The ChainsterEX supports loads of up to 2.5t and is designed for zone 22 (dust protection) and environments with temperatures from -20 deg C and 40 deg C. The hoist is available in three different sizes, with a choice of eye or hook suspension and push or motor trolleys, and is suitable for applications including wood processing plants, concrete and cement works and mills, and industries such as food, paper, plastics and pharmaceuticals.

It features to same durability, flexibility and load-bearing capacity as the standard Chainster electric chain hoist, says SWF Krantechnik, as well as fulfilling the additional requirements for hoists operating in zone 22. These include a specially-designed motor and connection box with IP66 protection class, making it dust-proof and protected against heavy jets of water; IP66 protection class for the chain hoist, trolley, cable entry points for hoist frames, seals for hoist frames, and one-step trolley limit switch; reinforced plate to keep the hoist frames shut on impact; explosion-proof cable screws made of plastic; dual temperature monitoring as safety protection; a controller with IP65 protection; and aluminium connections and main switch.
